While we can

Venice by foot

Well today we met up with our other fellow travellers. We were to meet next to the statue of the Lion in San Marco’s square at 10am. It was good to see everyone. Spent most of the day wondering the maze of streets shopping. Not much of a fun day for me, (or Gav) but the girls loved it. Fortunately this was interspaced with a number of watering hole stops. Naturally we got lost on numerous occasions but it doesn’t really matter when you are in Venice because all roads lead to a Piazza or San Marcos Square eventually.

Gondola ride through the canals

The six of us took a Gondola ride to see Venice from the water. he told us the city was over 1400years old and had a population of about 43,000. mainly oldies living here though because there is not much opportunity or affordable housing for the young. Many of the homes are uninhabitable due to the rising waters.

The Bros

The Bros

We found the carts in a Piazza not far from our home in Venice. 3 carts with numerous languages represented on them. Mostly the English are taken, they are there from 8am until 8pm. Taken in 3 hour shifts. It’s so nice to meet some of our extended family!

We all had dinner together in a restaurant, along the canal, then went our separate ways. We need to eat later as its still light around 10pm and it feels weird going to sleep in daylight.

So onto the Cunard for us next………

Stay tuned, but be patient, internet will not be readily available.

Have a look at our Venice Gallery for all the pics.

Great seeing what you are up to. Dianne always looks perfectly dressed, matched and tidy while Lee is in holiday bristle face mode.
