The flight from Frankfurt to Venice was only an hour, everything went like clockwork. We were a bit concerned initially because our luggage was transferred automatically from flight to flight as we made our way to Venice. We have heard of some horror stories with lost luggage and even fellow travellers had experienced this themselves (haven’t they John). We didn’t need to be concerned because our luggage was the first off the carousel. Drama Avoided!
On arrival in Venice we were surprised at the lack of rigmarole required to go through customs in fact there wasn’t any, we just walked straight out. We walked down to the Water Bus which took about 10 minutes to walk, boarded the ferry and it took us almost right to the front of our hotel the Hesperia, although it was on the opposite side of the canal so we had to walk 100m to a bridge to cross the canal.
By the time we got there it was around 11:30am so we decided to walk the streets and look for a cafe somewhere. We found one just around the corner and ate a nice meal with some very nice wine. Starting to feel the jet lag just a bit but we will try our best to make it to 9pm before we hit the hay.
We meet up with our other fellow travellers tomorrow at San Marco Square so we are very much looking forward to that.

pleased all going so well. enjoy reading your posts.
