We decided to attend the international convention today (Sunday), I didn’t want to shave my holiday beard off so I went incognito, disguised as a newly interested one. No-one asked if I wanted a study though.
It was about an hours trip by train. We really enjoyed meeting the brothers, Bro Lett gave the public address in English and there was an interpreter that translated into french.
For the other talks we had a headset where interpreters translated into English and we all (non french speaking brothers) just sat distributed throughout the audience.
There were around 22,000 present on the Sunday but when all the venues that were tied in by video link were counted there was newly 70,000.
At the lunch break we walked around the venue looking for anyone we knew. Couldn’t find anyone, funny that. The brothers toilets were interesting, they were portable ones. I would have taken a photo of it but might have been escorted out of the area if I had tried. The urinals were open so that anyone could see you stood up to the urinal from behind so if you wanted to avail yourselves of this provision you had a massive audience as the crowd circulated cheering you on.
Anyway we had a great day, the Sunday morning video presentations will really get you thinking if you haven’t seen them yet.
All good things must come to an end and so we headed back to the train station for the return journey. As you can imagine the train was packed.
Decided to go to one of the local street corner cafes close to our hotel for dinner, They had a 3 course meal for 12 euros which we thought was pretty good value.
