It’s been great having 10 days with Colin Danielle and Max in Crotone but now it is time to head off for a bit of sight seeing in southern Italy for a week. First stop is about a 3 and a half hour drive to the town of Matera.

Family Reunion in Sicily
Well the time had finally arrived, after months of planning (mainly by Colin and Dan) we begin our trip to Sicily. We set off on a beautiful sunny day to our first stop Catania by train from Crotone.
Well it’s about timeI I updated you all, yes I know I’ve been slack when it comes to blogging. Well where to start? A few weeks back we went to London for the weekend to visit our family over there. It sounds weird saying that, but when you live right in the centre at Europe, you can travel to any of the famous cities like Paris, Amsterdam, Vienna, Prague or London just for the weekend. We were leaving from Lamazia airport at 11:30 am on Friday morning so we had plenty of time, it takes about one and a half hours and Marco was good enough to drive us there.
Last Friday was a public holiday in Italy so we decided to take the day off and do some sightseeing. A day trip across to Tropea was in order. It’s about a 2 and a half our trip from Crotone. The weather was kind to us, a top of around 17 degrees and sunny skies.
Well we finally made it. Let me tell you all the 30 hours travel is no fun. Can’t fault Qatar Airlines, brand new planes and first class service. I was all worried about what to say to customs when we got here and they ask us if we are visiting for business or pleasure, I was mentally going through the conversation saying things like. “Well we are moving here for six months and I will be working here but don’t worry I won’t be stealing any business from any of the Italian Nationals, I will be just servicing my clients back in Australia so it’s a win win for the Italian Nation”. Turned out that they couldn’t care less what we were coming to Italy for, I went through the EU electronic entry and all I got to talk to was a machine. Di had a similar experience going through the normal passport check. At least she got to talk to someone but he didn’t ask anything either.
